Billing Changes
Under the Brazos Electric Power Cooperative (Brazos Electric) bankruptcy reorganization plan, Brazos Electric will be selling their generation assets. Because of this, NVEC will no longer have a power purchase agreement requiring us to buy power from Brazos Electric. Effective March 1, 2023, NVEC will purchase power from Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). We have negotiated a three-year agreement with LCRA and will have fixed pricing up to 90MW.
How will this affect you?
Our current billing period with Brazos Electric is from the 21st-20th of each month. LCRA’s billing period is on a calendar month basis. Because of the transition, there will be eight additional days on this bill. This billing period is from 1/20/2023-2/28/2023. February was a shorter month, and the weather has been milder after the storm. This will help lower the impact of the eight additional days.
